The Science of Rejuvenation

Hyaluronic acid. Sounds scary? Not really. Hyaluronic acid is just the fancy medical term for a sugar compound that occurs naturally in our bodies, and which is responsible for maintaining facial fullness and elasticity in our skin by binding to water like a sponge, absorbing up to 1,000 times its weight in water. Over time though, as we age, our bodies produce less of this important compound.

How Restylane Refyne Works

We are all individuals, and our bodies reflect that by how they respond to treatments. There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to facial fillers. Where one patient may respond best to a firmer compound such as Restylane Defyne, others may be able to use the lighter and very flexible Restylane Refyne.

Refyne is an excellent filler for deeper wrinkles and folds, while at the same time having unparalleled flexibility, mimicking the movement of our own tissues so well as to look and react in a way that is indistinguishable from our own skin’s natural fillers. Most often used on marionette lines and nasolabial folds, Refyne can be used to effectively fill any moderate to deep wrinkles.

As with all Restylane compounds, Refyne offers exceptional flexibility and support, and imitates the actions of young, healthy skin and underlying tissue, making it an excellent treatment option for areas of the face which experience a lot of movement. As your face moves and you make expressions, even the most extreme of smiles or frowns, Refyne will spring back into shape in the same way as your natural tissues.

Refyne treatments last up to 12 months.

  • Provide long-lasting, natural-looking results
  • Smooth nasolabial folds, the lines that run from the nose to the corners of the mouth
  • Fill marionette lines, the creases that run from the corners of the mouth to the chin
  • Give reliable support that is subtle and flexible

Restylane treatments look so natural only you will know, but you’ll look better (and feel better about your appearance!) right away. Restylane treatments last 3 to 6 months, or between 3 and 4 months for lips. This is due to the fact that we use our lips more than our other face muscles, which causes our body to flush out the Restylane faster from this area.

Hyaluronic acid is the active ingredient in Restylane and the Restylane family of injectable gel fillers which restore a more natural, youthful appearance by smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles, smoothing skin, and even subtly enhancing lips and cheeks by replacing the lost hyaluronic acid which occurs naturally in our bodies.

As we age, our skin loses volume as underlying muscle tissue atrophies and the natural volume enhancing compounds in our skin, such as hyaluronic acid, decrease in concentration. This can result in sunken cheeks and deep wrinkles in the areas where our face has natural fold lines, such as the nasolabial folds (from the corners of the nose to the corners of the mouth) and marionette lines (from the corners of our mouths to our chins).

Restylane Lyft is formulated to correct these signs of aging, by replacing hyaluronic acid in a gel form that holds many times its weight in water, refilling these areas with smoother, younger looking skin.

There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to facial fillers. Where one patient may respond best to a lighter compound such as Restylane Lyft or Refyne, others may need something firmer. This is where Restylane Defyne comes in. A slightly less flexible compound than Refyne, Defyne provides firmer support and can be used to fill very deep wrinkles and folds. As with all Restylane compounds, Defyne offers exceptional flexibility and support, and imitates the actions of young, healthy skin and underlying tissue, making it an excellent treatment option for areas of the face which experience a lot of movement. As your face moves and you make expressions, even the most extreme of smiles or frowns, Defyne will spring back into shape in the same way as your natural tissues.

THE JUVEDERM FAMILY

Best for deep wrinkles and adding volume

Juvederm is smoother than Restylane, but this doesn’t mean better. While the smoother consistency of Juvederm means that it is less likely to leave small bumps after treatment (these will fade and smooth out in time) this also means that Juvederm is more likely to ‘bleed’ in to areas around the treatment area, with undesirable results. Juvederm is, for instance, ideal for filling lines and wrinkles, but if used in the hollows under the eyes can easily travel to the top of the cheeks, creating an undesirable puffiness. For this application, Restylane would be the better choice.

THE RESTYLANE FAMILY

Best for fine lines, moderate folds and lips

Hyaluronic acid is the active ingredient in Restylane and the Restylane family of injectable gel fillers which restore a more natural, youthful appearance by smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles, smoothing skin, and even subtly enhancing lips and cheeks by replacing the lost hyaluronic acid which occurs naturally in our bodies.

Restylane treatments look so natural only you will know, but you’ll look better (and feel better about your appearance!) right away. Restylane treatments last 3 to 6 months, between 3 and 4 months for lips, and up to 12 months for Defyne and Refyne.
