According to Yelp, Hydrafacials are the fastest-rising beauty treatment over the past five years. And it’s no wonder why. This proprietary treatment from HydraFacial MD has revolutionized the facial, making it far more effective than traditional facial treatments. Results have been compared to those from IPL and non-ablative laser skin rejuvenation, but without the downtime! In the past year alone, over 2 million HydraFacial treatments have been performed worldwide. It’s so popular that HydraFacial MD has equipped an 18 wheel truck, completely renovated as a HydraFacial spa. The mobile spa tours the world, providing the opportunity to try this revolutionary beauty treatment to those who live in areas where HydraFacials are not yet available. While their closest stop to us is NY City, there’s no need to miss out. We offer the patented HydraFacial right here at Magnifaskin.

What is a HydraFacial?

It’s OK if you don’t know. HF’s are one of those things that have taken off so fast you’ve probably either already tried one, or you’re on the other end of the scale and you’ve never heard of it.

A HydraFacial is a medical-grade resurfacing treatment that literally vacuums out your pores, then hydrates your skin with a variety of available specialty serums. HF’s serums have anti-aging and anti-oxidant properties, and treatments are tailored to your skin.

This modified 18 wheeler tours the world, delivering the revolutionary HydraFacial to cities which don't yet have a spa offering this service. But you don't need to wait. HydraFacials are now available at Magnifaskin.

How Does it Work?

We’re sure you’re familiar with traditional facial treatments that use gentle exfoliants to scrub your skin clean, removing dead cells and smoothing the healthy skin that’s revealed. But there’s none of that with a HydraFacial. A HydraFacial uses a small wand, similar to those used for RF microneedling or IPL.  The wand will be passed over your skin. As it travels, HydraFacial MD’s patented Vortex-FusingTM technology literally sucks the dirt and oils out of your pores. We promise the suction is gentle though, with no chance of damaging your delicate skin.

Depending upon the treatment options you’ve selected, the wand will make multiple passes over your skin. The tips make contact with your skin, so they are disposable. Tips are color-coded for each step of treatment.

Typically a treatment will require 3 steps. The first cleanses and peels away dead skin. Step 2 removes dirt and oils from your pores with painless suction. At the same time, the wand applies moisturizer. For the final step, we saturate your skin with antioxidants and peptides for healthier, brighter skin.

You will likely experience some redness of your skin during and immediately after treatment, but for most clients this goes away within an hour or two. For best results, you should not apply makeup until the next day, and avoid exposure to strong sunlight.

How Long Does a Treatment Last?

While the effects of a HydraFacial do last longer than traditional exfoliating facials, the real power of HFs comes with repeated treatments. The HydraFacial was developed by dermatologists to not only brighten your skin, but make it healthier. A HF treatment every 4 to 6 weeks will keep your skin hydrated, and supply all the nutrients you need for maximizing your skin health. This means your skin will be more resistant to the effects of sunlight and aging.

The Real Science of HydraFacials

Healthy skin contains a lot of moisture. This is from the hyaluronic acid in your skin, which can bind water up to 1,000 times its own volume. The water in your skin doesn’t just make your skin plump and smooth. It actually protects you from the damaging effects of the sun.

While the water in your skin doesn’t directly protect you from ultraviolet light (the high-energy frequency of the electromagnetic spectrum that causes sunburns), having smoother, brighter skin does. And the effect is greater than you might think. Albedo is the term that scientists use to describe the reflectivity of a surface. Snow, for example, has a high albedo, as you’ll experience if you go outside on a sunny day after a fresh snowfall. The sun reflecting off the snow can be blinding! Literally. Arctic explorers in the days before sunglasses would often experience ‘snow-blindness’. This temporary blindness was caused when the intense light reflecting off the snow burned their retinas, which could happen in just a few hours of direct exposure. This might not seem to have much to do with your skin, but it shows just how powerful a reflective surface can be.

'Glowy' Skin is Healthy Skin

The brightness of your skin can be measured in the same way. We think of ‘glowy’ skin as representing youth and health, and it actually does. Teenagers often have this quality, as their skin is full of water and very smooth. It’s the reflection of the light that this kind of ultra-healthy skin produces that creates the glow. Highlighters use this same principle. They contain a high amount of reflective compounds. They don’t really make your skin brighter but just reflect more light.

The smoother your skin, the more light will be reflected. So getting regular HydraFacial treatments that keep your skin smooth, moisturized and infused with regenerative serums means that your skin will reflect more of the sun’s damaging light. A lot more, in fact. Bright skin can reflect over 200% more light than dull, tired skin. This applies no matter your skin color.

Since the sun is the number one factor in the aging of our face, keeping it smooth and hydrated doesn’t just make you look better today. It actually slows the aging process by reflecting more sunlight.

Almost anyone can benefit from the remarkable results offered by a HydraFacial.

Who Should Get a HydraFacial?

While anyone can benefit from a HydraFacial, it can be especially effective for those with acne, sun damage, and hyperpigmentation. If you have a sunburn or rash you should wait until it has healed before having a HF treatment. Treatments are also not recommended if you are pregnant or have rosacea.

What Are the Customization Options?

At Magnifaskin, we’ll assess your specific skin type and recommend a customized treatment that will maximize the benefits for your skin.

HydraFacial’s proprietary serums can be combined to provide a comprehensive range of essential nutrients, antioxidants, and growth factors.

Can I Combine a HydraFacial With Other Treatments?

Absolutely. In fact we often recommend Blue or Red Light Therapy, or Microcurrent Therapy as part of your HydraFacial regimen.

While we wouldn’t recommend getting fillers or other treatments that pierce the skin on the same day as your HydraFacial, you can expect to be fully recovered from your HF treatment by the next day.
