Body Contouring with Mesotherapy

Most of us aren’t as lucky as this girl. A perfect body just isn’t our reality, but if you’re self-conscious about wrinkles, lines, discolorations or stubborn fat deposits, mesotherapy can help.

Summer is just around the corner. Are you ready to expose your skin to the sun – and public scrutiny? If you have beautiful, youthful skin of course you are. But what about the rest of us? From pockets of stubborn fat to loose or pigmented skin, you may have areas on your body that you’re self-conscious about. You may have tried skin creams, diets or exercise, but these areas just don’t seem to improve. Mesotherapy may be the answer.

What Is Mesotherapy?

Originally developed by Dr. Michel Pistor in France in 1952 as a pain relief treatment, mesotherapy uses various blends of vitamins, enzymes, hormones, growth factors, antioxidants, peptides and natural plant extracts to tighten and rejuvenate skin. Mesotherapy treatments blended with Kybella can also be effective at reducing your subcutaneous fat deposits, especially the stubborn ones that exercise and diet just don’t seem to work on. It’s called mesotherapy because the injections target the middle layer of the skin, called the mesoderm.

This means there is no ‘one size fits all’ mesotherapy solution. Mesotherapy can be tailored to your individual skin issues and needs.

A Better Delivery System

Mesotherapy can be much more effective than simple topical treatments for treating common skin concerns that you may have, even though often the same compounds are being delivered. This is because your skin is designed to be a barrier, to protect your body from outside contaminants. Unfortunately, this also blocks the absorption of things like hyaluronic acid, which is good for your skin. By delivering this and a wide range of other nutrients via injection, we can safely bypass the skin barrier and deliver these compounds in an undiluted form directly to the tissues that will benefit from them.

A Customizable Solution

Due to the fact that mesotherapy treatments can be highly customized, we can treat a wide range of issues effectively with this therapy. Also, unlike most injectable treatments which are only recommended for certain areas of the face and neck, mesotherapy can be used anywhere on the body. Common treatments are:

  • Wrinkle and line reduction
  • Tightening of loose skin
  • Body contouring
  • Lightening of skin pigmentations and scars
  • Reduction of cellulite
  • Spot fat reduction

The Skinny on Spot Fat Reduction

It’s the holy grail of body contouring – spot fat reduction. No matter how much we exercise or diet, the distribution of fat on our body is genetic. If our genes say that the small deposits of fat under our chin, on our belly or thighs, or under our arms is the last to go, no diet or exercise regimen will change that. Prior to treatments like mesotherapy and Kybella, the only way short of liposuction to get rid of these last stubborn pockets of fat was to starve ourselves and exercise like caffeinated squirrels until there wasn’t a shred of fat left on our body. Let’s get serious. How many of us have the time or inclination to do that? Further, most of us shudder at the idea of having fat vacuumed out of our body. The procedure can result in nerve and tissue damage or dangerous infections, and the final result may not look natural.

Now with treatments like mesotherapy and Kybella, we can reduce or even completely remove these stubborn fat deposits. While Kybella is specifically designed to treat chin fat, in combination with mesotherapy we can reduce fat anywhere on the body.

It Works, But Don’t Expect an Overnight Miracle

You do need to be realistic with your expectations though. Think about chin fat, for example. At worst, it’s a few ounces of fat. With multiple treatments, Kybella gradually destroys these fat cells permanently, allowing us to contour your chin and completely change your profile. Body fat deposits must be subjected to similar expectations. Not to be indelicate, but if you’re wanting to get rid of handfuls of fat, mesotherapy won’t help. However, if you have small pockets of fat that just don’t seem to be responding to any reasonable diet or exercise regimen, we can not only help but in some cases we can remove these fat deposits completely, leaving behind smooth skin and a shape you can be proud of.

Of those who approached mesotherapy with realistic expectations, over 90% report being ‘extremely satisfied’ with the results. If you’re not sure, come see us for a free consultation. We’ll give you an honest assessment of whether or not mesotherapy can be used to effectively reduce those fat deposits.

Treatment Areas

Common areas treated are:

  • Saddle bags
  • Inner thigh
  • Below the glutes/back of thighs
  • Abdomen
  • Wings- areas on the back just behind the arms and above the bra
  • Love handles
  • Mummy tummy
  • Back of arms
  • Double chin
  • Lipomas (benign tumors of fatty tissue)

Injections are done over a period of weeks or months and typically range from as few as 3 appointments to as many as 15, depending upon the area being treated and how responsive your tissues are. This varies from one person to another.

A major benefit of targeted fat reduction through mesotherapy is that the fat cells are not simply reduced but actually destroyed. This is very significant, as our bodies don’t actually make more fat cells. The cells we have simply get larger or smaller in response to how much fat the body stores. Once these cells are destroyed, they don’t come back.

Wrinkle Reduction

Sun, pregnancy, rapid fat loss and simple aging of our skin can leave it lined and wrinkled. There’s nothing worse than having an otherwise attractive body, only to have your good looks ruined by wrinkled, saggy skin. Mesotherapy can help.

While the root causes vary, our skin wrinkles and sags for the same reasons – a reduction in our youthful amounts of hyaluronic acid, elastin and collagen. Hyaluronic acid helps our skin to retain water and gives it plumpness. Elastin and collagen are responsible for skin elasticity and integrity. Too little elastin and our skin sags. Too little collagen and it wrinkles.

elastin and collagen in our skin reduces as we age

In young skin there’s plenty of elastin, collagen and hyaluronic acid. These compounds are the reason that our skin was tight, firm and full when we were younger. Unfortunately, as we age, the amount of these compounds is reduced. The result is lines, wrinkles, saggy skin and a loss of fullness or plumpness. Mesotherapy can help your body to replace these missing elements.

While not an injectable filler treatment like Juvederm, Restylane or Revanesse, mesotherapy can be tailored to stimulate the body to produce more of these essential nutrients. The result is smoother, tighter, and fuller skin. Repeated treatments allow us to contour your body to a more pleasing shape.

Pigmentation and Scarring

From acne scars to sunspots and melasma, mesotherapy can reduce the appearance of skin pigmentations. By inhibiting the production of pigment by the melanocytes in the cells mesotherapy can lighten these areas over time. In some cases, skin pigmentations are made more prominent by pitting or wrinkling of the skin in these areas. By incorporating hyaluronic acid, we can smooth out these areas, which also helps to improve the appearance.

Playing the Long Game

Mesotherapy is not a single treatment as fillers are. While fillers do need to be redone from every few months to every couple of years, they can radically alter our appearance after just one treatment. The effects of mesotherapy are cumulative and more understated. While it requires patience to see the desired results, many patients like the fact that the changes are not as dramatic as they are with fillers. The final result will look very natural.

As already mentioned, our skin produces less essential nutrients as we age. This means that any anti-aging treatment must be ongoing to be effective. Sadly science hasn’t yet discovered an ‘inject once and for all’ treatment for anti-aging.

Individualized Treatment Plans

mature women also benefit from mesotherapy

So nobody told you when you were younger that you would have been better off to start anti-aging treatments then. It’s never too late, though. No matter your age, mesotherapy can help to smooth and contour your body.

To get results from mesotherapy, you will need not only a tailored formula but also an individualized regimen of treatments. Sticking with it over time will eventually produce the results you are looking for, but it may take a few months to really see the difference. This means that the sooner you start, the sooner you will begin to reap the benefits, and we mean this in two ways. Yes, that starting now is always better than starting later, no matter your age or goals, but also that the younger we start treatments like this, the less effect aging will have on our skin.

For many of us, late ’20s is not too soon, and for almost all of us, we should be starting anti-aging treatments in our ’30s at latest to get the optimal effect. This doesn’t mean we can’t help you at any age, though. No matter your age, mesotherapy and other treatments offered here at MagnifaSkin Medical Spa can reduce the signs of aging, and leave you feeling more confident and beautiful.
